Are you an experienced electrical engineer with a passion for cracking complex issues at system level? Were looking for a highly skilled Electrical Problem-Solving Engineer to lead structured investigations into challenging electrical and electronic problems across modern vehicle platforms. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in identifying true root causes, driving crosscollaboration, and ensuring robust, evidence-based solutions for high-impact issues.
What's on offer:
on site at a luxury vehicle maker – 35 hours per week
start date ASAP – contract review date 31/12/2026
Competitive hourly rate (inside IR35/ umbrella)
Working Environment:
Mix of lab, workshop, and office-based work.
Occasional travel to suppliers or manufacturing sites.
Hands-on involvement with vehicles, wiring systems and test rigs.
What Youll Be Doing:
Lead 8D Problem-Solving (D1-D4 Focus)
Form cross-functional teams and coordinate effective investigations.
Create clear, data-driven problem statements using field, plant and test information.
Develop and validate interim containment actions to protect customers and manufacturing.
Conduct rigorous D4 root-cause analysis using replication, testing, and structured methods.
Produce high-quality D1-D4 documentation for seamless handover to corrective-action owners.
Testing, Diagnostics & Root-Cause Validation
Lead hands-on electrical diagnostic work: bench tests, vehicle tests, environmental stress testing and fault replication.
Build and execute test plans to isolate failure modes and confirm hypotheses.
Use tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, network analysers, CAN/LIN/FlexRay/Ethernet tools, and power measurement equipment.
Provide validated evidence underpinning confirmed root causes and system escape mechanisms.
Cross-Functional & Supplier Collaboration
Work closely with design, software, manufacturing, quality and supplier engineering teams.
Engage suppliers with clear technical expectations: data requirements, parts returns, joint analysis and test planning.
Support design reviews and ensure DFMEAs/PFMEAs are updated based on findings.
Continuous Improvement
Identify recurring patterns and contribute to lessons-learned processes.
Help develop internal standards for problem-solving and diagnostic methodologies.
Coach engineers and technicians in robust, structured investigation practices.
What Youll Bring
